A gorgeously romantic festive read from the author of A Mistletoe Miracle, guaranteed to warm your heart this Christmas!

Could it be the start of her happy ever after?

Ashleigh could use a little Christmas magic. She’s still living in Brighton with her Nan — who could give the Grinch lessons in how to be miserable — her acting career has been reduced to playing one of Santa’s elves, and not even the prospect of a friend’s winter wedding can cheer her up…

That is until Olivier, the gorgeous French chef, reappears in her life. Or more accurately, next door.

When they were teenagers, Olivier would spend every other Christmas with his mother, who just happens to be Ash’s neighbour and owner of the best chocolate shop in England.

If anyone can bring a little sparkle back to Ash’s life, it’s Olivier. All she needs is one kiss before Christmas…

Feel-good and festive, this is the perfect romance to curl up with this winter!

In the snowy perfection of Aspen, the White family gathers for youngest daughter Rosie’s whirlwind Christmas wedding.

First to arrive are the bride’s parents, Maggie and Nick. Their daughter’s marriage is a milestone they are determined to celebrate wholeheartedly, but they are hiding a huge secret about their own: they are on the brink of divorce. After living apart for the last six months, the last thing they need is to be trapped together in an irresistibly romantic winter wonderland.

Rosie’s older sister Katie is also dreading the wedding. Worried that impulsive, sweet-hearted Rosie is making a mistake, Katie is determined to save her sister from herself. If only the irritatingly good-looking best man, Jordan, would stop interfering with her plans…

Bride-to-be Rosie loves her fiance but is having serious second thoughts. Except everyone has arrived – how can she tell them she’s not sure? As the big day gets closer, and emotions run even higher, this is one White family Christmas none of them will ever forget.

My Thoughts

This festive romance follows Rosie as she prepares to marry Dan after a whirlwind romance, her workaholic sister, Katie, and her mum, Maggie. It is told in 3 points of view which works well as all the characters have different personalities, are believable and have different conflicts to deal with. Rosie has her wedding doubts, Katie has problems at work while Maggie is preparing for her divorce. I felt there was a bias towards it being Maggie’s story rather than Rosie’s but this suited me because she was the character I could most relate to. It is a study of the different stages of love and relationships as well as family bonds.

The stunning setting gives you everything you need in a Christmas novel – snow, mountains and trees  making it an ideal festive read. It is easy to visualise and imagine you are there. If Snowfall Lodge in Aspen was a real place it would be on my wish list of places to visit with the idyllic tree houses, sleigh rides and roaring fires.

It’s fun and emotional in places which is perfect to read in the light of the Christmas tree drinking hot chocolate.

Would I recommend?

Yes. Sarah Morgan has the knack of producing a book that always gives the reader characters to love and a journey to entertain. This novel sends you to the winter wonderland to relax in without leaving your duvet. It is happily sitting on my forever shelf to read next year.

Thank you HQ for inviting me to this tour and the opportunity to read an advanced copy for an honest and unbiased review.

My Thoughts

Zara Stoneley is a new author to me but within a couple of chapters, I was hooked by her writing style and the prospective trip to Shooting Star Mountain Resort. The festive feel forced me to consume my first mince pie though I resisted the urge to play Christmas music.

british-2382_1920

With the backdrop of mountains, snow and log cabins the setting alone is ideal for a festive romance. When travel agent, Sarah was younger the Shooting Star Mountain Resort flourished providing perfect Christmas holidays so she highly recommended it to her customers. With news of complaints and run ins with Will Armstrong she decides the tackle the problem head on. She is not prepared to let the business responsible for many memories fail without a fight. Sarah’s unique feisty personality complements moody Scrooge-like Will Armstrong who I connected with immediately. With a bundle of fun characters including flirtatious Ed and beautiful husky Rosie it is a joy to read. This is a story of how a person’s history affects their present, brewing secrets, romance and the magic of Christmas. The unexpected elements made this story its own; it will not be lost in the mass of festive reads available.

Do I recommend?

Yes, it is a humorous, romantic festive read to snuggle down under the duvet and perfect for this time of year.

Zara Stoneley

Born in a small village in Staffordshire, I wanted to be a female James Herriot, a spy, or an author when I grew up. After many years, and many different jobs, my dream of writing a bestseller came true.

I write about friendship, dreams, love, and happy ever afters, and hope that my tales make you cry a little, laugh a lot, and occasionally say ‘ahhh’.

I now live in a Cheshire village with my family, a lively cockapoo called Harry, and a very bossy (and slightly evil) cat called Saffron.

Book review: Moonlight over Manhattan by Sarah Morgan

Moonlight over Manhattan

Title Moonlight over Manhattan

Author Sarah Morgan

Blurb

Determined to conquer a lifetime of shyness, Harriet Knight challenges herself to do one thing a day in December that scares her, including celebrating Christmas without her family. But when dog-walker Harriet meets her newest client, exuberant spaniel Madi, she adds an extra challenge to her list – dealing with Madi’s temporary dog-sitter, gruff doctor Ethan Black, and their very unexpected chemistry.
Ethan thought he was used to chaos, until he met Madi – how can one tiny dog cause such mayhem? To Ethan, the solution is simple – he will pay Harriet to share his New York apartment and provide 24-hour care. But there’s nothing simple about how Harriet makes him feel.
Ethan’s kisses make Harriet shine brighter than the stars over moonlit Manhattan. But when his dog-sitting duties are over, and Harriet returns to her own home, will she dare to take the biggest challenge of all – letting Ethan know he has her heart for life, not just for Christmas?

For those who love romance, there is nothing like a Sarah Morgan book to make reality fall away and transport you into the lives of her characters. In this book, you find yourself in Manhattan near Christmas with Harriet. I instantly felt a connection with quiet, shy Harriet who is more comfortable talking to the dogs she walks than people. Her love life is going nowhere fast after some disastrous dates until she stumbles across Dr Ethan Black or Dr Hot as others describe him. I like how none of her characters are perfect and they all have relatable flaws; it makes them more real. The plot flows well and old favourite characters from Sarah Morgan’s other books make an appearance as an added treat.
This story hits the spot for a good festive read while curling up under the duvet with a luxurious hot chocolate.

Happy reading!

A personal journey through chronic illness and disability. Chronically Christmas looks at how Christmas is experienced over a number of years. From first feeling unwell, to being diagnosed. From various treatments to steroid side effects. It’s the story of one woman’s struggle coping with the many different experiences faced when fighting chronic illness.

Spoon Shortage Sue is a mum, wife and assistance dog owner, a retired secondary school teacher, who runs a successful Facebook page – Spoon Shortage Sue & Spoonie Spaniel too. She has fought chronic illness and disability for a number of years and has shared with fellow fighters offering a positive outlook to dealing with the many struggles she and others face.

She also blogs frequently at spoonshortagesue.wordpress.com.

This is her first short story, a personal account of dealing with chronic illness and disability. She is also currently writing a more in depth account which will be published in the new year.

This upbeat short story is a pleasure to read. It is a well written snapshot of chronic illness and follows Sue’s Christmases from pre- diagnosis to the present, from anxieties at being in medical limbo to acceptance and living life to the full. As a follower of Spoon Shortage Sue’s blog it is great to see how it all began. She brings a smile to many daily on FB and wonderful to read her story.

Book review: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Lovestyle

Time is creeping on; in a few weeks people will be getting into the festive spirit and will start to indulge in some of the Christmas reads that are appearing on the shop shelves. I have a stash I have been lucky to be given in exchange for an honest review (so watch this space in the coming weeks) including this one , A Rock ‘n’ Roll Lovestyle by Kiltie Jackson.

A Rock'n'Roll Lovestyle ebook hi-quality-1.jpg

Title: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Lovestyle

Author: Kiltie Jackson

This was a refreshing, festive read with depth and soul not seen in many Christmas romances I have read recently. Sukie is a strong, independent character who has a successful career and  2 men she can rely on, Tony and Adam – her cats. Her feisty, down to earth and fun personality carries the book forward to make it a pleasure to read with a few chuckles along the way. She jumps at the chance to go to Austria, her dream destination, not knowing it will be a trip that will change her life when her path crosses with the now reluctant rock star, Pete Wallace.

I became emotionally attached to all the characters as their present and back stories unfolded so when the malice which is threaded throughout the book increased, my heart was in my mouth as I turned each page in trepidation.

This  well written debut is described as a 21st-century love story but it is more than that. It is also about friendship, fun, life and revenge.

If you are a fan of Karen Swan and Jill Mansell this book is well worth reading while snuggled under the duvet and indulging in a mug of hot chocolate.

I am looking forward to reading more from Kiltie Jackson and excited to hear she has a new book in progress.

A Rock ‘n’ Roll style is available through Amazon
